ORIGINALS VS PRINTS

I sell primarily Giclée Prints. I also sell my originals, but only by special arrangement.

Let me clarify: Paintings fall into three broad price/preference categories:

* Original Paintings
* Limited Edition Prints
* Prints

Original paintings are too high in price for most buyers.

Prints, usually lithographs, are low in price and of good quality. They are designed for the entry level Art Buyer. They are produced in such large numbers that any exclusivity is lost and they forfeit the title "Fine Art".

The limited edition print strikes a balance somewhere between the Original and the Print. Quite simply, the number of prints to be sold is limited, the fewer the number of prints the higher the cost per print. Editions are typically limited to 50-100 prints.

Giclée Printing is a recent development and the most common method used in making Limited Edition Prints. This print making technology combines the use of digital imaging (scans or photographs of the original painting) with a more sophisticated form of the Ink Jet Printing you may use with your computer. This technology produces Fine Art Prints that are virtually indistinguishable from the original at a price that brings them within reach for many buyers.
